Nexus 4 Lollipop First looks

Android Lollipop 5.0 hit the nexus 6 users and some of the nexus 5 users abroad. It was when we were planning to flash the nexus 4 by compiling the source code, that the factory image for nexus 4 arrived on the developer page.

Thanks for jamsheed, google developer (Viral apps OCHA and PADAM creater at the playstore) for providing me with his nexus 4 device (16GB variant) and allowing to flash it manually

We wasted no time further and as we had an unlocked boot-loader, there were no additional steps involved. Downloaded the image, Plugged the USB cord in got the lollipop image flashed.

Is Switch Ads Genuine and Works With Adsense?

The same question popped on my mind when i received the mail in my mailbox from the 123contactforum contact box i integrated on my CONTACT US page.

The exact mail i got is given below for the reader's understanding. I am hereby not compromising any security or privacy the sender of the mail wanted to have. This is strictly for reference purpose.

So i went on with some digging around.

At first i thought that switch Ads was just an advertising company like infolinks and i can integrate both of them together to earn more revenue. But this was wrong when i read how the Switch-Ads work. They want the currently working adsense code and integrate ourselves into their program. As we enter the base CPM bids, they can obviously deliver sweet deals to our banners in the website.

I found it appealing and decided to read what google product forum had to say about switch-Ads

There i found many people enrolled themselves to hit by Switch-Ads on their mailbox and wanted to know if there was any harm integrating it with adsense.

Below is a sample conversation and read what the experienced members (Level 9) and so called switch-Ads member(Level 1)

So my conclusion after all this study is that,

Wait till Adsense lists Switch Ads as one of their partners or the adsense account will be in risk if you integrate Switch-Ads
Only those who dont have a old account risk the account and do this. If a 10 year old account is lost, i dont want to tell you the feeling.
Once adsense lists Switch-Ads as partners, you can very well use it, no offence.
I pray Switch Ads reps starts negotiations with adsense to list themselves as adsense partners.

OCHA Android App Becomes Viral

The OCHA dialogue sharing app started by the 8 anonymous twitter friends Twitter handles as @ Sa_th, @Dinkan, @UrvashiTheatres, @njanaaramon, @NjanAara, @appukuttan_dr, @theKeeleri and @GovindaSunil. have already become viral among youngsters. Currently only android version of the app is released for users.

Nokia Turns Android?

Nokia, now owned by microsoft was suspected to shred all android OS related plans as they are tied up with the Lumia series, the lumia 520.525,720, which were a huge hit. Months before, a worker leaked the existence of a Nokia android phone in the test phase. This was proven true, when Nokia showcased android phone series, The x variant recently.

Whats the catch ?

The phone features a 4inch LCD display (800*400) with preloaded Nokia and Microsoft Apps. The phone is powered by a dual core 1GHZ qualcomm snapdragon (The variant that has been successfully powering the Lumia brothers). The x+ and xl variants have been bumped upto 760MB ram and 5inch display,while the x variant just has 512mb ram and 4 inch display. The device has incorporated 5MP steady focus camera, which causes a doubt that this may fall in budget segment (below 6000 Indian rupee). It also have an internal storage of around 4GB(2.8GB usable).

Verdict

The phone does not have playstore installed and hence Google services are ruled out officially. This device features a custom operating system. This makes the device somewhat a windows 8 like feel with running android OS. which again fails to impress customers.

Windows 8.1 Update/Upgrade Error Fix

Windows 8.1 upgrade was issued to OEM windows 8 customers recently by Microsoft. But the upgrade was interrupted by many bugs and errors.

Some of the errors are

Little story first !!

Got my dell inspiron recently and got a notification on windows store that a free upgrade is offered and upgrade size was around 2.5GB. Hooked it to a high speed LAN with 10Mbps internet service, and clicked on UPDATE . Nothing happened. Tried again, got an error. Annoyed, frustrated, tried everything found on internet. Eventually my store was crashed and i couldn't start it again.

How i solved the problem?

As i told earlier, tried everything from internet and eventually broke my windows 8 store. I went to settings and restore my OS completely. This time before doing upgrade,

I completely updated my windows 8 and restarted it
(Please note :Its restart, not shut down and turn on)
I didn't install any antivirus as i suspected it was blocking me from downloading.
I clicked on upgrade and voila, upgrade process started (Download started)

Did I solve the problem completely?

I got windows 8.1 installation and i couldn't get past the key verification screen and i had to call on the toll free number given for telephone support. They gave me a new key, analyzing my system code the 8.1 upgrade module was showing.

In a matter of 10 minutes, my system began to run windows 8.1

There are many other possible issues/error codes shown. The solution is applicable only to those error codes stated above.

I would come up with a solution to other error codes shown which didn't even start the ISO download

Buy Items From ebay.com for Residents In India (Solved)

Readers, please note, this is about buying items from ebay.com (international site) not from ebay.in. Buying from ebay.in requires only a shopping Debit card from VISA or Master-Card

Problem Description : Buying from ebay.com is essential in case of buying electronic gadgets, mobile phone service parts, and other gadgets as the price differs hugely comparing ebay.com and ebay.in. A 32,000INR valued mobile phone is just sold at 24,000 (conversion of USD) at ebay.com. But ebay gives support only for credit cards from citi-bank or Federal bank and never supports debit cards from any banks for payment. This creates a big sad, angry situation in some youngsters (Including me).

A new way has been devised to pay ebay.com legally and hence to buy any item from ebay.com (customs duty has to be taken care off self, as the customs may charge 10% for electronic gadgets above 30k and sometimes they dont even charge anything for a high priced item (My nexus 5 and playstation 5 are examples)

Let me explain the method in detail. Follow the exact steps to successfully buy any item...

Step 1: Registering yourself in entropay.com

Entropay is a service which gives you virtual credit cards of VISA (legal card) with a charge on any transaction and top up you make to or with the card

The minute you complete your signing up/registration, and confirm your mail id, you will get a virtual credit card, which can be used to purchase from anywhere you want.The card looks like below

Step 2: Top up your entropay card

Next step is to top-up the card with any debit card of your choice. I prefer federal bank/citi debit card as the transaction is swift. Sadly, SBI/SBT debit cards wont work here due to a temporary issue on paying to america

You will be presented with a window like this

Select the amount you want to top up, enter your card number in select payment method and add it (you can see my card is being auto selected here mastercard-4305)

After paying with debit card, your credit card will now show some balance

(around 1$ would be taken as transaction charges while top up or purchase, so make sure you top up for enough amount)

Step 3: Create account at paypal

Even if you have a virtual card created as above, ebay wont accept unless you pay through paypal.com/paypal.in, so never try to pay without doing this step

select an account for Individuals, Register at paypal, confirm email and then add your virtual card using My account-profile-Add/Edit Card option in paypal window.

Step 4: Create ebay.com account (If you have one, skip this)

Sign up/Register can be done in easy steps. After verifying email id, just sign in and check whether it works. sign out now

Step 5: Purchase items

Login to ebay.com and add any desired item to cart, click on proceed to checkout and select option, pay with paypal.
A login window for paypal would be shown at ebay.com itself, login using paypal username and password and click ok
Click on pay button when confirmation is asked
Done!!
Wait for your item, as international shipment takes around 20 days to india

Advantages on using paypal

If you didn't get the item, you can file a case (or request) to ebay and they will refund you the amount to your virtual card within 3 working days
If you get a damaged item, same thing applies
